Concept of Equality
JLU is among those German universities with the highest proportion of women students. The University sees this as both a chance and a challenge – to energetically promote an equal-opportunity policy and the lasting integration of women in the knowledge-system.

JLU, in accordance with the principles and measures anchored in its concept of equality, is initiating a new institutional culture committed to the training of women students and young female researchers, to help maximize their opportunities for advancement, to recognize excellence of endeavour, and to ensure their academic recognition.
In applying the concept of equality, JLU has established a permanent Equal Opportunity Commission under the supervision of the University President. This Commission assumed its duties in March 2009.
