 ... in the field of research:

Questions of the modernization of political education at school and outside school are in the focus of many publications and several dissertation theses from our department. A special focus is put on difficulties in the emphasis on competences in the framework of subjects at school (in Hesse „Politics and Economics“), subject-based learning and teaching with media and the didactical and theory-based educational foundations of political education. Furthermore, research on the history of political education is an important part of our scientific work.


... in the field of international cooperation:

In particular, we work closely with Austria, Switzerland, Israel, South Korea and the United States.

… in the field of university education

We are responsible for the study of the subject-based didactics in the school subject Politics and Economics in Hesse. Furthermore, we are contributing to the course of studies for the social studies at primary schools and in the field of extra curricular education. Our university department is also offering a doctoral programme.
