Practical Language and Communication is part of the English department at JLU, renowned for its commitment to excellence and its diversity in course offerings. Our Bachelor's and Lehramt students enjoy a wide range of courses in English and American Literature and Culture, in English Language and Linguistics, in Teaching English as a Foreign Language - and in Practical Language and Communication. The Practical Language and Communication team is committed to supporting students by helping them advance their academic language skills and their written, oral and intercultural competencies in general. Our goal is to foster English skills that allow students to take an active part in the discovery, reflection, and exploration processes required in their academic programs and to feel confident of their contributions within the classroom and beyond -- in their future professions. We offer courses in grammar, composition, integrated language skills and reading. We also provide upper level courses that are constantly adapted to meet the ever changing needs and desires of our students.
