Thesis Support Meeting - summer term 2015

Do you need help writing your BA Thesis?

The BA Support Meetings consist of informal gatherings that are intended to assist you in writing your final thesis. The meetings will give you the chance to get feedback on writing issues, swap ideas with other students, and to do practical exercises. Each meeting deals with a specific writing related topic, but participants are encouraged to ask questions about individual problems they may be having.

The schedule for SS 2015 includes the following sessions:

April 24, 2 PM: This session will deal with

  • how to develop a central thesis or research question.
  • how to choose and develop a working methodology and how to apply it to your text analysis.

May 15, 2 PM: This session covers

  • time management issues
  • how to access secondary sources.
  • work on developing an argument

May 29, 2 PM: This session will deal with

  • how to structure the thesis, including paragraph structure, sub-chapters, and sections
  • language issues and punctuation

June 12, 2 PM:

  • We will work on how to document sources correctly.
  • Layout conventions will also be discussed.

June 26, 2 PM:

  • This session is intended to answer any (last-minute) questions you may have before you hand in your thesis.

While the BA Support meetings are intended for BA students in particular, other students who would like assistance in writing their final Masterarbeit, Examensarbeit, Diplomarbeit, or Magisterarbeit are very welcome to join us.

The meetings are open to linguistics and didactics students as well to ones in cultural and literary studies.

Please note that you do not need to register for the meetings.
