Chromatin and nuclear matrix interactions during heart development and disease
Heart failure is the leading cause of death worldwide. Recent findings of multipotent cardiac progenitors have stimulated optimism that the progression of heart failure can be prevented or even reversed with cell-based therapy. The proposed project aims to study the role of epigenetic modifications in cardiac progenitor cell specification, maintenance and differentiation during normal development and in pathologically relevant settings.
