Dynamic spatiotemporal organisation of steroid regulated gene transcription
It is still largely unknown how the formation of productive DNA-protein transcription complexes is organised in time and space. So called transcription factories or active transcription hubs have been proposed. Steroid receptors form microscopically discernable structures (speckles) that may represent such factories. In this research we aim to elucidate the function of those speckles and to investigate whether these represent specialised forms of previously postulated transcription factories.
