The Scientific Symposia

The primary aim of the UGMLC school is to provide the faculty and enrolled students with a forum for the exchange of scientific ideas in a scientifically stimulating and excellent setting. To this end, the UGMLC School organises regular scientific symposia which address educational needs that have been identified within the student population. Details of past, present and planned symposia may be found here.

These irregular UGMLC School Scientific Symposia and Career Development Symposia are open for attendance by all UGMLC School associated faculty and students. These symposia are generally one-day, two-day, or three-day symposia, are held off-site, in a retreat-type format. These symposia consist of 8-10 external invited speakers, which address a particular theme of broad interest to UGMLC laboratories based in all three affiliated institutions. These symposia have a pronounced educational aspect, and presentations are allocated unusually long time-frames to allow for extensive discussion. The programme also includes presentations by affiliated faculty members, and their students; as well as generous time allocation for informal discussion during meal-times and coffee-breaks, a meet-the-professor session, and a brief informal excursion to landmarks in the surrounding area.

Information about individual symposia are available by clicking on the relevant symposium title below, or by navigating the links at left. Links will become active when symposia are open for registration.
