Every year, JLU's International Student Advisory Office organizes numerous interesting excursions designed to give you the opportunity to learn more about Germany and explore new locations.
To ensure that you get a place on excursions of your choice, and to help us with our planning, please give us sufficient advance notice. To obtain further information or to sign on to excursions, just drop by during Frau Hapelt's counseling hours in the International Student Advisory Office. Tours 2008- From the coast of the Baltic Sea to Franconia in Bavaria - The International Student Advisory Office organises every year trips for new international students to different locations in Germany. What we offer are tours to attractive places all over Germany with a programme exclusively for you! We take you to stunning locations where you will enjoy lovely cities, beautiful nature and breathtaking views. Thanks to the support of the German Academic Exchange Service, it gives us the opportunity to offer these tours at a comparatively low cost. Please register for the trips as soon as possible in order to secure your place! We wish you a wonderful time and many new experiences!

Special Tour at the end of the induction weeks: Wetzlar and Braunfels CastleAfter your first two weeks you have the opportunity to visit the beautiful old city of Wetzlar and the stunning castle of Braunfels, both located near Gießen. 1. Erfurt – Adventure in Thuringia (Thüringen)Thuringia offers many outstanding attractions but we’ve chosen Erfurt, the capital of Thuringia, for one simple reason: It is a truly beautiful place! In three days we enjoy the magnificent city of Erfurt and its foremost attractions: The famous bridge with houses build upon and the cathedral with the world’s biggest church bell, to name but a few. We also go not only underground and have a look under the surface of the earth but also venture onto the top of the trees. Expect both culture and adventure! 2. Rostock and Schwerin – Sand, Sailing Boats and CastlesThe picturesque hanseatic city of Rostock is situated at the Baltic Sea. From here we head to the seaside resort Warnemünde where we, again, enjoy sand, sea and sailing boats. After that we travel to Schwerin, capital of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern), which offers a stunning castle, beautiful lakes and breathtaking cultural attractions. This tour caters for all tastes!

3. Trier – Between old Romans and young wineThe ancient German city offers a sheer range of attractions so that a weekend is almost not enough to experience them all: Amphitheatre, Roman thermal baths and the world famous Porta Nigra, a stunning city gate with a 2000-year-long history. At a trip to the surrounding area we enjoy not only beautiful waterfalls and lovely vineyards but also the medieval castles of Pfalzel and Saarburg.

4. Rothenburg ob der Tauber – Christmas Market and living historyRothenburg ob der Tauber is a picturesque medieval city in Franconia with a romantic Old Town. The Christmas Market, which is called “Reiterlesmarkt”, is one of the best in whole Germany. Before we enjoy Glühwein (mulled wine) and roasted almonds, we visit the famous Crime Museum where we have the chance to see medieval instruments of torture. Prepare for an exciting afternoon!
