Cultural Life in Giessen
|
Theater, concerts, exhibitions, lectures – you name it: Giessen has a broad range of cultural programs on offer.
The City Theater, for instance, is known far beyond Giessen for its stage successes, which have shaped the influential "Giessen School". Giessen, too, boasts the world's first mathematics museum – the "Mathematicum", opened in 2002 and hosting 150,000 visitors annually – which offers stimulating 'do it yourself' experiments. The 'father' of the University, Justus von Liebig, has a museum devoted to him, installed in his former laboratories; this counts among the world's ten most important repositories for the history of chemistry. Here is just a selection of links to information on Giessen's cultural institutions and activities: On the internet you will also find an Overview of Giessen's Museums and a news-site devoted to Cultural Events in Giessen (Veranstaltungen in Gießen).
