Fees and Expenses |
| The Master's Programme "Transition Studies" is a further education study and therefore subject to a fee. A tutorial fee of 1,200 Euro per semester is charged. Furthermore, there are additional registra-tion fees of approximately 210 Euro per semester (including the ‘semester ticket’ for public transpor-tation). To obtain a visa from the German Embassy you also need to have proof of sufficient financial resources for your stay, which at the moment amounts 600 Euro per month. You can get information about scholarships at the German Embassy or the DAAD office of your home country. Applications for scholarships of the DAAD have to be submitted from your home coun-try. Unfortunately, the chances of receiving a scholarship while already studying in Germany are not very high. |
Transition Countries - Transition Studies
|
| Transition countries are characterised by enormous economic and
political transformations. Their societies are changing from a
stateled command system to a market economy, from autocracy to
democracy. The group of transition countries includes the successor
states of the former Soviet Union, the countries of Eastern and South
Eastern Europe, as well as recent transition countries in Africa and
Asia, for example China. The Master's Programme "Transition Studies" is an interdisciplinary study programme established by five faculties of Giessen University, headed by the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Nutritional Sciences and Environmental Management (Faculty 09). The technical organisation is carried out by the Center for International Development and Environmental Research (ZEU). Justus Liebig University Giessen is the first university in Germany addressing the specific problems of transition countries in an international, interdisciplinary study course combining both theory and practical experience. The Master's Programme will enable students:
