Composition of degree programme and content
|
| The Master`s course imparts subject skills and allows the students a greater scope for the formation of an individual profile than has been possible for them in the Bachelor`s course. This takes place with the aid of so-called study lines in the major subjects (inorganic, analytical, organic and physical chemistry). The Master`s course is research-oriented. The skill and ability of working out solutions to problems by using innovative ideas which have already been practised in the Bachelor`s course, is gone into more deeply in the Master`s course, through independent work on small research projects, particularly within the framework of the work on the Master`s thesis. The course is divided into a basic one-year programme and a one-year specialisation. In the first year of studies the basic elements include basic and ancillary modules from chemistry and elective modules from chemistry and other subjects. Then in the second year of study a distinct specialisation takes place. The course consists of a total of 14 modules including the Master`s thesis. 13 of these are classes and the last module consists of the writing of the Master`s thesis. The 13 teaching modules consist of 8 core or basic modules (48 cp), 2 electives (12 cp), 2 in-depth modules (20 cp) and a specialisation module (20 CP). The Master`s degree course finishes with the Master`s thesis (30 cp). Focus areas: Modules in the first year of study 1st semester
2nd semester
Elective modules
Students can select these modules (elective module I+II) from the following:
Modules in 2nd year of study 3rd semesterIn-depth modules (2 modules are to be selected):
Specialisation modules (one module is to be selected):
4th semester - Master`s thesis (30 cp)In the thesis the student should, in a period limited to six months, show that he/she is able to work independently on an academic topic. The thesis is to be written on a topic in the area of the specialisation. |
