Teaching Degree Programmes
The modularized teaching degree programmes end with the first state examination in Hesse. The next step is the period of work as a trainee teacher (Referendariat). The Referendariat ends with the second state examination.

The degree programme in primary education, or 'L1' as it is known, prepares students to teach Years 1-4 at German Grundschulen. Graduates get a teaching certificate for Years 1-6 in their particular teaching subjects. Taught in German.
