Structure
The structure of the "SFB Memory Cultures" rests on two pillars: the five main research areas –each of which encompasses a number of sub-projects focusing on specific historical memory topics – and the three interdisciplinary working groups.
Sub-Projects
A: Education and the Construction of Identity in the Roman Empire and Late Antiquity
B: Memory Cultures and Group Identities in the Late Middle and Early Modern Ages
D: Memory Cycles: Plurimediality and the Narrativity of Cultural Memory Processes
E: Memory Cultures in Times of Change: National Socialism, Fascism, World War Two
F: Concepts of Time and Sacrality as Challenges to Memory in a Transnational Context
Interdisciplinary Working Groups
The interdisciplinary working groups bring together members of various sub-projects and form the second pillar of research in the "SFB". They meet four to five times each semester.
Each member of the "SFB" is a member of at least one of the following working groups:
Time, Media, Identity
