Application Checklist

This section offers a step-by-step explanation of how to apply to Justus Liebig University Giessen. Please be aware that the ECTS application form is mandatory if you wish to collect credit points.

If you plan to study at our faculty, you should first select a number of courses and lectures which suit your academic qualifications and personal interests. Detailed information on which courses and lectures you can choose from is available from your home university's ECTS coordinator who handles European exchange programmes at your department.

The next step is to fill in the ECTS application forms. For students on the ERASMUS program, the relevant forms consist of the ECTS application form and the learning agreement.

Then your home university will send your complete application package to our faculty's ECTS coordinator here in Giessen. This package includes

  • the ECTS application form,
  • your learning agreement,
  • your transcript of records,
  • an accommodation form to apply for a room at one of the university's dorms.

Once you are admitted to JLU Giessen, there are two things to remember. First, provided you have applied for accommodation, you will receive additional information on exactly which dormitory will accommodate you or whether you will be offered alternative accommodation. This information is sent out in September (for the winter semester starting in October) or in February/March (for the summer semester starting in April). Second, if you were admitted but cannnot go for any reason, you will need to let your home department's ECTS coordinator know immediately.
