Methods

The LOEWE Center DRUID unites experts from leading medical universities in Hessen, as well as from the Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI) in Langen and the University of Applied Sciences of Central Hessen, in order to investigate urgent issues in identifying and characterizing potential target molecules for the development of drugs, vaccines, and diagnostic tools to combat poverty-associated, neglected infectious diseases. Various projects will address target molecules from transcription/translation, cytosolic and membrane-associated targets, and targets in hosts and vectors, during which the spectrum of methods will continuously be developed and optimized further. Moreover, the consortium has solid expertise in fundamental techniques that are essential for implementing the specific projects.
