Viro Vet Diagnostics (VVD) respects the privacy of customers and visitors who use our services and visit our websites. Personal data are treated strictly confidential and secure.

General

Under the EU general data protection regulation (GDPR), we are required to inform you about what information we collect from you, how we use or disclose it, and how we protect it. The information also tells you what rights you have in terms of data protection. Nature and purpose of the collected data

The data processing is based on legal requirements in order to fulfil the examination contract between you and the VVD and the associated obligations. For this we process data, in particular the health data of the patient from whom a sample originates. These include name and age, sex, vaccination status, (if necessary labeling), medical history, examination results and diagnoses. The collection of the data mentioned before is a prerequisite for the performance of medically meaningfull laboratory diagnostic tests.

Furthermore, we store data that are required for the transmission of the test reports and certificates as well as invoicing. These include name, address, telephone / fax number, e-mail address and account details of the sender (medical doctor / veterinarian); name, address, telephone / fax number, e-mail address and account data of the patient / patient owner (for billing to the patient / patient owner and for the production of certificates (rabies antibody test)). Data that are not required to process tests and invoicing will not be stored by us.

 

Data collected via the website of VVD

When you access our websites, essential access data is stored. Depending on the access protocol used, the log record contains information with the following contents:

  • IP address of the requesting computer
  • Date and time of the request
  • desired access method / function from the requesting computer
  • data transmitted by the requesting computer
  • Access status of the web server (file transfer, file not found, command not executed, etc.)
  • Name of the requested file

Non-anonymized data is used solely for the purpose of identifying and tracking inadmissible attempts to access and access the web server. The logged data are stored for a period of two months and then deleted. There is no user-related statistical evaluation.

Access data are evaluated in anonymized form for statistical purposes. In this case, the IP address of the requesting computer is rendered unrecognizable, so that an identification of users for statistical purposes is not possible.

Use of the information provided

VVD will only use your personal information to respond to your inquiries about our services, to fulfil our obligations to you regarding tests or contracts to be performed, to process payments in connection with tests or contracts, or for internal purposes, e.g. statistical evaluations made with non-personally identifiable data.

 

Transfer of data

We only transfer personal data to third parties if this is permitted or required by law or if you have consented. Reasons for the transfer of personal data are:

  • notification of infectious diseases in accordance with the Animal Health Act or Infection Protection Act,
  • confirmation of the test results to entry points and other authorities,
  • transmission for the purpose of billing to our tax office and, where appropriate, other persons, e.g. to process online payments.

In individual cases, we may transmit data to other authorized recipients.

 

Data storage

We will only store your personal information for as long as necessary to conduct the tests or contracts. Due to legal requirements, we are obliged to keep these data for at least 10 years after completion of the investigation.

The right of access

You may contact us to get confirmation as to whether or not we are processing your personal data.

The right to be informed

You have the right to receive information about the data concerning you including health data.

The right to rectification

The GDPR includes a right for individuals to have inaccurate or incomplete personal data rectified or completed.

 The right to erasure

You have the right to have your personal data erased from our systems if the personal data are no longer necessary for the related purposes.

The right to restrict processing

You have the right to request the restriction or suppression of processing your personal data.

The right to data portability

You have the right to obtain and reuse your personal for your own purposes across different services.

The right to object

The processing of your data is based on legal regulations. Only in exceptional cases we need your consent. In these cases, you have the right to revoke your consent for future processing.

You also have the right to complain to the relevant data protection supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your personal data is unlawful.

Data security

We use physical, technical and procedural safeguards to prevent the unauthorized access, destruction, use, alteration or disclosure of personal information. Our employees are required to handle your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
