  1. autecology, diversity and community dynamics of micro-organisms in marine and terrestrial environments 
  2. microbial interactions and evolution of fungi 
  3. fungal transformation, genomics and proteomics analyses 

Techniques (Techniken): 

DNA-RNA extraction from isolates and environments; environmental profiling techniques (DGGE, ISSR, T-RFLP); Real-Time PCR; generation of cDNA fragments; semi-quantitative RT-PCR; Southern blot hybridization; SDS-PAGE gels protein analyses; fungal transformation; vectors construction; genes expression and promoter analysis in A. niger; multiple sequences analysis of genes encoding invertase / inulin-modifying enzymes in fungi; proteins detection analysis; multigene phylogenies using a variety of software (GENEDOC, ClustalX,BioEdit, CodonCode Aligner and PAUP 4.0 among others); cloning; sequencing; TLC methods.
