Microbial genomics course 2018

From 23.04 to 25.04.2018, the microbial genomics course 2018 took place at the JLU Gießen. During these three days, eight experts from the working group for bioinformatics and systems biology presented the basics of analyzing microbial genome data to the thirteen participants from all over Germany. This included the major topics sequencing data quality control, assembly, genome annotation and comparative genomics. Among others, the in-house tools ASA3P and EDGAR were used for the practical hands-on sessions. On the second evening, Jochen Blom offered a guided tour to Gleiberg castle, where he presented the historical and architecural aspects. The overall feedback of the course was positive. This course was provided free of charge by the german network for bioinformatics infrastructure (de.NBI).
