High resolution hot gas molecular emission FT spectroscopy in far, mid and near infrared

To connect physics with quantum chemistry or chemistry at an eigenstate level it is necessary to detect the highly excited molecular eigenstates. I discovered in my PhD work  that hot gas emission experiments can be used not only to detect short lived intermediates of many chemical reactions but even more importantly this type of spectroscopic experiment is highly sensitive to the detection of highly excited bending states ("bending overtone spectroscopy").

I demonstrated that using a special experimental set up it is possible to suppress the background radiation from the surroundings and the hot oven. With some important additional FT-spectroscopy related improvements my experimental set up improved the signal to noise ratio up to 1000 times in comparison with similar experiments.


I intend to improve my emission spectroscopy setup continuously and in the long term I want to work on the development of emission spectroscopic techniques for analytical applications in chemistry and biology.
