50th anniversary of the Urology department - 26-27 September 2019
More than 200 researchers and clinicians from nearly 30 countries came together to exchange latest insights in Andrology/ Urology research during the three events mainly organised by IRTG members.
Constanze Maresch, alumna from IRTG and NYRA board member, set up the meeting for the Network of Young Researchers in Andrology. Andreas Meinhardt and Hans-Christian Schuppe hosted the Molecular Andrology Workshop. And Florian Wagenlehner as head of the Urology Department invited for the 50th anniversary symposium.
On this occasion we were happy to also welcome IRTG members from Monash, Kate and Bruce Loveland as well as alumna Rukmali Wijayarathna.

Poster Presentation at the Conference of American Society for Reproductive Immunology
Dana Püschl held a poster presentation at the 37th conference of the American Society For Reproductive Immunology
Dana participated at the 37th ASRI Conference, September 17-20, with a poster presentation on "Human testicular cancer: Evidence of a functional polarization of macrophage and dendritic cell subsets" At the conference she was also nominated as an imaging competition finalist.

Betty Exintaris speaks at the 9th GGL Annual Conference
Co-Supervisor from Monash University is visiting Giessen - Sept 20 - 21
Betty Exintaris, Co-Supervisor in projects 5 & 6, has been invited as the speaker of section 6 for the "9th GGL Annual Conference". Her talk on "Spontaneous contractile activity in the human prostate gland: implications for a more personalised treatment approach for benign prostatic hyperplasia" will take place in the afternoon of September 20.
We are happy to welcome her here and wish her a pleasant stay.

Much to our regrets, Stuart Ellem couldn't attend the GGL conference. In his stead Sebastian Galuska gave the keynote talk for section 6 "The role of glycocalyx in the reproductive system"

Monash investigator Stuart Ellem will contribute to the 8th Annual Conference of the Giessen Graduate Center for the Life Sciences (GGL). Keynote speaker for section 6 ‘Reproduction in Man and Animals’ he will give the talk “Estrogen and Mast Cells are Key Components of the Prostate Cancer Microenvironment”.
We are happy that he will stay a couple of days more to intensify project work with Ralf Middendorff's and Florian Wagenlehner's/ Undraga Schagdarsurengin's group.

At this occasion, IRTG Monash supervisor David de Kretser will come from Australia to participate as invited speaker for section 6 "Reproduction in Man and Animals" organized by IRTG supervisor Ralf Middendorff.
Our doctoral students will also represent IRTG by submitting an abstract or a poster for the conference.
The programme
will comprise recent results presented by all doctoral researchers from the nine research sections of GGL. The sessions will be opened by invited speakers who are experts in their field and who will set the stage for the talks by the GGL members.
Further, GGL members will have the chance to get conference coaching, intensive training for the presentation of their poster or talk as well as for chairing sessions.

Alumni Networking and Education Promotion Event on June 5, 2014
Andreas Meinhardt was invited to this event to speak about his experience as a postdoctorate in Australia in the 90s and to provide rationale to do research with Australia; especially with the setting up of the first programme grant in science between Australia and Germany, the IRTG Monash Giessen.
