Japan: JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship (short-term) for Doctoral Students and PostDocs
The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science provides opportunities for doctoral researchers from the US, Canada and Europe to conduct cooperative research with leading research groups in universities and other Japanese institutions.
Who is eligible for funding?
Doctoral students who are going to obtain their doctorate within two years after the begin of their fellowship.
PostDocs who have completed their doctorate no longer than six years prior to April 1st of the respective budget year (1 April to 31 March).
Duration of Funding
1 to 12 months
Applications
Doctoral students and PostDocs with a duration of stay of less than 6 months: via DAAD until January 1st, 2017 for fellowships between July 1st, 2017 and September 30th, 2017
PostDocs with a duration of stay of more than 6 months: via Alexander von Humboldt Foundation possible at all times
USA: Fulbright-Commission Fellowship (short-term) for Doctoral Students
The Fulbrigth commission supports doctoral researchers from Germany to conduct cooperative research for their docotrate at U.S. universities and other institutions.
Who is eligible for funding?
Doctoral students with german citzienship who are enroled for doctoral studies at a german university.
Applicants need to provide academic qualifications (degree certificate and academic reference letters) as well as an official invitation from their designated host university or institution (must be arranged autonomously).
Duration of Funding
4 to 6 months

Deaslines for applications are as follows:
- 15th March for labrotations starting in October that year
- 15th September for labrotations starting in April the following year
