Oral contribution

Oral lecture contributions are scheduled for 15-minute blocks including time for discussion.
Time limits will be strictly enforced by session chairpersons. It is imperative to adhere to the time schedule to allow switching between the sessions. In every conference room the following technical support is available:

  • Laptop
  • Beamer
  • Standard slide projector
  • Overhead projector
  • Laser pointer
  • Microphone
  • High desk

For your presentation please do not use a font type smaller than 18 pt.

If you want to use the beamer, please bring a CD with your presentation. The programmes available on all laptop computers are Microsoft Office 2000 (Excel, PowerPoint and Word).

You may either send your CD to the organisers in advance or hand it in to the registration office at the latest the day before your talk is scheduled. Please, make sure that your CD is properly labeled with your name and the symposium the talk is scheduled for. There will be the opportunity to test whether the CD copy is working properly. You should also bring slides or overheads as a backup in case of software or equipment failure!

In case you have any further questions about technical details please do not hesitate to contact the conference office.

Important
: Should your computer presentation require special infrastructural requirements (e.g. access to internet) please inform the conference office in time!

Poster

The poster session will be important throughout the whole conference and will be closely connected to the symposia whenever possible. The posters will be presented on the ground-floor of the research Centre for Bio Systems, Land Use and Nutrition (IFZ), close to the lecture halls and the conference office and should be available during the whole conference. For the poster presentation one posters per first author or presenter is allowed. Posters referring to no symposia topic will be presented in an individual section "open topics". Posters should be mounted on Monday from 10:00 h onwards. Material for mounting of posters will be provided. On Thursday all posters should be removed by 16:00 h as remaining ones will be disposed.
All poster should adhere to the same format (A0, 84.0 cm x 118 cm, portrait). Font size of the text and legends should be at least 5 mm. It would be helpful for the readers if the authors position their conclusion in the right bottom right-hand corner of their posters and highlight it using a colour or a coloured background. A poster filled with too many details is confusing and will fail to attract potential readers.
There will be an award for the best poster of the conference.

Submission of oral and poster presentations by sending an extended summary

The deadline for submissions of an oral or poster presentation is April 15, 2004.
Only abstracts submitted in English language will be considered. To guarantee a homogenous appearance of the proceedings volume we prepared detailed instructions, which should be followed very strictly. You will find these instructions under Abstracts/Proceedings.
We prefer participants to submit their abstracts using the GfOE web site. Persons with no access to the Internet should send the abstracts as a print-out as well as on disc to the Conference office or via e-mail to gfoe2004@uni-giessen.de.
Final decision on acceptance or rejection of submitted abstracts will be made by June 30, 2004.
When submitting your abstract using the web site submission form you will be notified electronically that your contribution was received, using the e-mail address provided. If this e-mail address is incorrect, you will not be notified. So please ensure that your address is correct!
If you do not get a feedback from the organisers within a week after sending your submission, please, contact us again. The complete scientific programme should be on the GfOE web site by August, and each accepted oral contributor should check for the exact time and locations of the contribution as these may be subject to changes (mistakes are sometimes possible).
