In principle every member of the university active in research is allowed to carry out third-party-funded research projects for his/her work-related assignments (see § 29 HHG in the edition from December 14th, 2009). You can get the essential information about research programs and project funding in the internet. In the Research Office, you can get any information that goes out over commonly accessible sources and is necessary for an application.
- Since July 1st, 2011, full-cost accounting for contract research and service projects has been in effect. In order to calculate the finances of the corresponding contracts, please always consult with the appropriate employees of Department D 2.3.
Contract research and service projects
- When calculating personnel costs, please consider that in addition to the monthly gross salary (including the employer's portion of social security payments) other compensations might occur. Please take into account possible specific personnel cost procedures of the respective third-party financers or ask in Department C about specific compensations. You can also get information about average personnel costs at JLU.
- Please send in a timely manner any rough drafts for potential cooperation agreements / R&D contracts to Department B for review. These contracts will be signed exclusively by the president.
- Please note that with most third-party financers, not the individual scientists but rather the university will act as the applicant (except for standard DFG projects and a few DAAD ones). For this, the signature of the university president is necessary. In these cases, promptly refer to the Research Office.
