Final Report and Project Completion
After more than three years, the TANNRE project ended in 2021. The final report will be publicly accessible on the website of the Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology and University Library (TIB).

A new article by the TANNRE project entitled "Wissen als Treiber für Wandel. Die Harmonisierung von Nachhaltigkeitsverständnissen in der globalen Ernährungspolitik [Knowledge as Driver for Change. Harmoninzing Understandings of Sustainability in Global Food Governance]" was published.
New Journal Article
A new research article entitled "Aligned Sustainability Understandings? Global Inter-Institutional Arrangements and the Implementation of SDG 2" by Helmut Breitmeier, Sandra Schwindenhammer, Andrés Checa, Jacob Manderbach and Magdalena Tanzer was published in the journal "Politics and Governance".

SDG Research Symposium in Utrecht
Joining the fully virtual SDG Research Symposium GlobalGoals2020 hosted by Utrecht University, the TANNRE project presented its paper "Never-Ending Hunger? Norm Conflicts and the Implementation of SDG 2 in the Global Food Regime Complex" on June 11, 2020.
Annual Conference of the DVPW Working Group Environmental Politics and Global Change
On March 5 and 6, 2020, the TANNRE project joined the Annual Conference of the DVPW Working Group "Environmental Politics and Global Change" in Darmstadt. The conference aimed to take stock of the SDGs five years after their adoption to provide an impact analysis from the perspective of political sciences.
GGS Annual Conference in Giessen
On December 2 and 3, 2019, the TANNRE project joined the Annual Conference of the Giessen Graduate Centre for Social Sciences, Economics and Law (GGS) entitled “Beyond Western Liberalism: Mapping Blind Spots in IR Norms Research” at Justus Liebig University.
TANNRE at the EISA Pan-European Conference 2019
The TANNRE project presented a paper at the 13th Pan-European Conference on International Relations at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. The conference theme was “A Century of Show and Tell: The Seen and the Unseen of IR”.
ICPA-Forum and JCPA Workshop in Heidelberg
Dr. Sandra Schwindenhammer joined the 17th ICPA-Forum and JCPA Workshop of the Journal of Comparative Policy Analysis (JCPA) at Heidelberg University on March 8-9, presenting the paper “The Politicized Norm Cluster of Sustainability and Global Agricultural Policymaking: Comparing Norm Interpretation and Prioritization of International Organizations”.

Representing the TANNRE project, research assistant Andrés Checa presented the paper “The politicized norm cluster of sustainability and global agricultural policymaking: Comparing norm interpretation and prioritization of international organizations” at the SPSA Annual Conference 2019 & Dreiländertagung in Zurich.
First International TANNRE Workshop in Giessen
On November 8 and 9, TANNRE hosted its first international workshop at Justus Liebig University Giessen. Twenty experts from various fields such as political science, environmental politics and nutritional science came together to discuss the topic “Sustainability at the Crossroads? Norm Contestation in the Global Regime Complex for Food”.
Paper Presentation at DVPW Congress 2018 in Frankfurt
During the DVPW Congress from 25 to 28 September in Frankfurt, the TANNRE team presented a paper as part of the panel "Food Democracy. The Repoliticization of a Policy Field ".
Michael Böcher from Bio-Ecopoly visits TANNRE
The TANNRE team welcomed Prof. Dr. Michael Böcher (Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg), representing the cooperating partner Bio-Ecopoly, in Giessen on August 29. Both projects presented their current work and discussed the future of environmental research.
Paper Presentation at ECPR General Conference 2018 in Hamburg
From August 22 to 25, the TANNRE team attended the ECPR General Conference in Hamburg. As part of the panel “Normative Divides in Post-Exceptionalist Agri-Food Governance“, the project presented its first conference paper.

Exactly one year ago, the starting signal for the research project "The Transformation Potential of Inter-institutional Arrangements and the Norm of Sustainability in the Global Regime Complex for Food" was given. The TANNRE team looks back on an exciting and successful year.
Meeting GreeTS at TU Darmstadt
The TANNRE project team traveled to Darmstadt in order to meet its cooperating partners from the GreeTS project on May 25, 2018. There was a lively exchange about the two research projects as well as about future cooperation.
Workshop with Dr. Stephan Engelkamp
The TANNRE project was part of the workshop on critical norm research in International Relations, organized by the GGS section "Norms and Changes in Global Politics". The section was happy to welcome Dr. Stephan Engelkamp (King’s College London, Department of War Studies) as a guest speaker and commentator.
TANNRE at ECPR General Conference
From August 22 to 25, TANNRE will join Europe‘s largest annual gathering of political scientists at the ECPR General Conference in Hamburg. The submitted paper proposal “Global Food Governance in the Era of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: Assessing Norm Contestation and Conflict Management” has been accepted.

The TANNRE project is going to present a paper at the DVPW Congress in Frankfurt from September 25 to 28, 2018. The team’s contribution to the panel “Food Democracy. Die Repolitisierung eines Politikfelds“ has been accepted.
Interdisciplinary Exchange at ZEU Working Lunch
Following the invitation of the Center for International Development and Environmental Research (ZEU), the research team presented the main objectives of the TANNRE project at ZEU Working Lunch on February 14.
Second Visit of Cooperating Partner Andreas Klinke
Cooperating partner Prof. Dr. Andreas Klinke from the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, came to Justus Liebig University on February 6 and 7 in order to support the work of the TANNRE project. It was the second time that Professor Klinke joined the TANNRE team in Giessen.
TANNRE at FB03 Research Day
On January 24, the TANNRE project contributed to the Research Day of the Faculty of Social and Cultural Studies (FB03) of Justus Liebig University Giessen. Research assistant Andrés Checa presented a poster outlining the main objectives of TANNRE.

As part of the 27th Science Congress (September 25-28 2018) hosted by the German Political Science Association (DVPW), Dr. Sandra Schwindenhammer is going to arrange the panel “Food Democracy. Die Repolitisierung eines Politikfelds“ along with Prof. Dr. Peter H. Feindt (Humboldt University of Berlin) and Prof. Dr. Jale Tosun (Heidelberg University), friendly supported by the DVPW working group “Umweltpolitik/Global Change”.
First Visit of Cooperating Partner Andreas Klinke
Cooperating Partner Prof. Dr. Andreas Klinke from the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada is going to visit the TANNRE project at Justus Liebig University Giessen on February 6 and 7 for a second time. The team is looking forward to rich discussions and Professor Klinke’s valuable input.
