Abstracts

The abstracts for talks and posters at the meeting should preferentially be submitted via e-mail. Deadline is November 30, 2004. Please note, that the abstract should already be in the final printable format. We encourage participants to efficiently use the space allocated to each abstract (one DIN A4 page, incl. text and one Figure or one Table). The abstracts must not exceed one DIN A4 page. For the layout of the abstract, please follow the guidelines given in the example (download below).

Template for preparation of abstracts (template-abstract.rtf)

All contributed abstracts will be compiled into an abstract booklet. This will be available as a downloadable PDF-file in January 2005. Each participant will also receive a printed version at the conference office.

Talks

Talks are scheduled for 15 min. presentation plus 5 min. discussion. Please, plan your presentation so that it will fit into the timeframe. Time limits will be strictly enforced by section chairpersons.

In the lecture hall the following technical support is available:

Laptop
Beamer
Standard slide projector
Overhead projector
Laser pointer
High desk

If you want to use the beamer, please bring a CD with your presentation. Owing to a tight time schedule, there will not be the possibility to use your own laptop. The programmes available on the laptop computer are Microsoft Office 2000 (Excel, PowerPoint and Word). In case your presentation includes animations or special characters, it is advisable to save your presentation as 'Pack-and-Go' files.

You may either send your CD to the organisers in advance or hand it in to the registration office at the latest the day before your talk is scheduled. Please, make sure that your CD is properly labeled with your name and the section the talk is scheduled for. You should also bring slides or overheads as a backup in case of software or equipment failure!

Important: Should your computer presentation require special infrastructural requirements (e.g. access to internet) please inform the conference office in time! In case you have any further questions about technical details please do not hesitate to contact the conference office.

Posters

The posters will be presented on the third floor of the Research Centre for Bio Systems, Land Use and Nutrition (IFZ), close to the lecture hall and should be available during the whole conference. Posters should be mounted on Monday from 10:00 h onwards. Material for mounting of posters will be provided. On Wednesday all posters should be removed by 16:00 h as remaining ones will be disposed.

All poster should adhere to the same format (A0, 84.0 cm x 118 cm, portrait). Font size of the text and legends should be at least 5 mm. It would be helpful for the readers if the authors position their conclusion in the right bottom right-hand corner of their posters and highlight it using a colour or a coloured background. A poster filled with too many details is confusing and will fail to attract potential readers.
