Internal Structure

The ZEU's structure is relatively simple, a fact that allows an efficient management. Central organ is the directorate. It consists of eight professors and representativesa of the research and administrative assistants and employees, as well as of the students.
The JLU's presidium decides which professors will become members of the directorate. The term of membership is limited to four years, but its extension is unrestricted. The other members are appointed for two years each by those they will represent during this time.
The directorate elects a director of the board for two years, whose job it is to manage and ad-minister the Center. One managing director, who represents the Center towards the inside and outside, is responsible for all practical affairs.
Technical advisor to the directorate is the advisory council, which consists of specialist members of the university and from outside of the university. It convenes once a year.
The chairs and research assistants are each assigned to one research group (section). These sections are made up out of two professors and research assistants each (part-time). These employees are financed by the university and serve to gain the start-up financing of projects. They are employed by the Center and not by the faculties.
During the realisation of project applications the number of the sections' employees is raised according to need, making use of third-party funds. Thus the total number of ZEU employees varies between 15 and 25 scientists.
