Network Licenses
With the help of network licenses, JLU institutions can equip course and group work rooms with SPSS at low cost.
Difference between network licenses ('concurrent use') and single-user licenses ('single use')
- With a single-user license, the software is installed on one computer and 'permanently' licensed on this computer with a manufacturer key.
- With a network license, the license is not 'permanently' anchored on the computer but is distributed variably by a central instance (a license server) to a fixed number of authorized computers in the network for a period of use and withdrawn again at the end of use.
The HRZ needs the following from you:
- The name and JLU e-mail address of a point of contact
- The maximum number of concurrent licenses required
- A cost center for allocating license costs
You will receive the following from HRZ license management:
- The software for installation on the workstation PCs
- The license manager software for installation on the server or network computer that is to act as the license server
- The license keys for authorizing the license manager software
Note: The following descriptions refer to the product version SPSS 26 and SPSS Licensing Tools 9.7.0
Installation (Windows)
Workstation computers (clients)
The installation of the SPSS application software on the workstation computers (clients) does not initially differ from the installation process for the use of single user licenses.
When you start SPSS for the first time, you will find a 'License product now' button on the start screen, which you must click on to complete the licensing process. Alternatively, you can start the 'License Authorization Wizard' in the SPSS installation folder. Please make the following settings (please click to enlarge):
Use the host name or the IP address of the server or network computer on which you have installed the SPSS License Manager software as the entry for the 'Name of the license manager'.
