Ph.D. Project

Invasive insect pests (i.e., Drosophila suzukii) cause a significant loss in fruit production. The Sterile Insect Technique has been used as an environmentally friendly method to reduce insect pest populations. To improve the development of strains for the application of the SIT in D. suzukii, new genetic methods and combinations thereof will help and be used in my project on this serious crop pest.

I am highly interested in applied sciences to overcome significant agricultural issues in insect pest management, biosafety,  GM food, and biotechnology for SIT to contribute to integrated pest management. The use of conditional systems and establishing new ways to control the expression of genes in pest control systems are my main subject and specialty.
