The lab of Molecular Gynecological Oncology, headed up by Dr. Ahmad Fawzi Hussain, focuses on the development of novel approaches for breast and ovarian cancer detection and treatment. This with special emphasis on the development of a versatile technology platform combines three interdisciplinary and complementary fields; molecular biology, immunology and medical engineering.

Our research group has developed a panel of near infrared (NIR)-based antibody theransotics conjugates (ATCs) by conjugating single chain antibody fragments (scFv) against cancer-associated cell surface antigens to the highly potent NIR phototheranostics agent IRDye^®700DX phthalocyanine using SNAP-tag technology. These ATCs have the ability to detect and eliminate cancer of different entities by photoimmunotherapy, including ovarian, breast, pancreatic and skin cancers
