Abstract

In European global cities migrant’s work in the field of childcare has become more and more common due to globalization and transnationalization processes. Most of these care givers are women. In the recent decades in France and in Germany, the occupation of childminders (dt. ‘Kindertagespflegepersonen’, frz. ‘Assistant(e)s Maternel(le)s) has been regulated in order to respond to the enlarged care deficit. In this presentation I want to show though the method of a biographical policy evaluation how the different contexts in these two nation states influence the care givers journey through life, migration and work out of a comparative perspective.
