Aim:
Open Access means unrestricted online access to scholarly journal literature. The worldwide and free access to your articles ensures that many people can read and cite you. Many findings show that your citation count is increased compared to traditional publishing. Open Access publishing is especially popular in the life science disciplines and there are several ways to implement it. The course overviews these different ways to Open Access and presents how the JLU supports you financially with the Open Access publishing fund.

2. The scholarly publishing process
3. “Golden road” to Open Access and open access journals (e.g. PLoS, BioMedCentral, …)
4. “Green road” to Open Access and disciplinary/institutional repositories (e.g. PubMed Central)
5. Open Access publishing fund and the Open Access policy of the JLU
