ZEU and EM-MHeatwaves project member Lorine Behr was interviewed on the current issue of the ongoing marine heatwave in the Mediterranean Sea. Since May, water temperatures between Spain and Greece have been extreme in some areas. This could affect fisheries and lead to mass mortality events of marine species - and is also exacerbating the situation on land.

In the project "Eastern Mediterranean Marine Heatwaves", Lorine and colleagues from ZEU/JLU Giessen and the University of the Aegean are currently investigating how marine heatwaves develop and how the ocean and atmosphere interact during these events.
