Justus-Liebig-University

Justus Liebig University is the institution that brings together the community of universities, academic and non-academic actors in the SDGnexus Network. Founded in 1607 the JLU is one of the older universities in the German-speaking part of Europe. As one of Germany’s top research universities it engages in extraordinarily broad range of subjects with a particular emphasis on life sciences and cultural studies. Several centers of the JLU are more intensively involved with the activities of SDGnexus Network:
 
 

Center for international Development and Environmental Research (ZEU)

As the initiator of this project, the Center for Development and Environmental Research (ZEU) of the JLU, hosts the head office of the SDGnexus Network. ZEU has conducted international research, consulting and teaching activities at the intersection of natural and social sciences for more than 20 years. With numerous national and international partnerships, it has coordinated prominent interdisciplinary research and education projects in different parts of the world.

Giessen Graduate Center for the Life Sciences (GGL)

 

The Giessen Graduate Centre for the Life Sciences (GGL) provides an interdisciplinary, structured graduate program for all life science disciplines at the JLU. If offers multi-disciplinary qualification programs, guidance, and support to PhD students and researchers during the early stages of their careers.

Giessen Graduate Center for Social Sciences, Business, Economics and Law (GGS)

 

The aim of the Giessen Graduate Center for Social Sciences, Economics and Law (GGS) is to create a research-intensive and target group-specific education and training program that addresses global sustainability issues. It addresses doctoral students and postdocs whose focus of research matches that of the GGS.
