Dr. Serik Orazgaliyev will present the SDG Barometer project, which aims to bridge the gap between public expectation and policy formulation in attaining sustainable development goals by 2030.  The survey was conducted across Kazakhstan's 17 regions and three major cities: Astana, Almaty, and Shymkent. Targeting a diverse demographic of more than 3,000 participants, the study captures the public's perception, priorities, and expectations regarding the SDGs' implementation at macro (country), meso (regional), and micro (individual) levels. At the individual level, public perception is also addressed regarding social cohesion in the country and the level of civic involvement. Furthermore, the public's perception of the SDGs, the project endeavors to inform and enhance Kazakhstan's ongoing efforts to plan, steer, and coordinate effective SDG implementation strategies. The ultimate goal is to foster a more inclusive, informed, and humane approach to achieving sustainable development, ensuring that the voices of the Kazakhstani people are heard and integrated into the national policy agenda.

Dr. Serik Orazgaliyev is an Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Public Policy, Nazarbayev University, and Co-Chair of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) country chapter in Kazakhstan.
