12.01.2026 - Introducing Our Newest Members: Jalal and Gayathry Join the Land Use Group
It is our pleasure to announce the formation of the Land Use Group! We are delighted to announce the formation of our Land Use Group and welcome Jalal Mansouri and Gayathry Damarla, who officially joined our team on January 1st as PhD students and SDG Nexus Network scholarship holders.
Jalal holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics Engineering and a Master’s degree in Remote Sensing from Iran. He is passionate about applying machine learning and deep learning techniques to environmental remote sensing, particularly in the fields of forestry and agriculture.
Gayathry brings a strong academic background, with an M.Sc. from the University of Twente – ITC, Netherlands, and an M.Tech from India. Her expertise spans engineering, geospatial science, and data-driven analysis. Through her internships, she has honed her skills in geospatial and agricultural data analysis, as well as remote sensing and spatial analytics
Both students bring impressive backgrounds and a shared enthusiasm for the future of the Land Use Group. We are thrilled to have them on board and look forward to the exciting contributions they will make. We also hope they enjoy their time in our team and in Giessen.
