What is it like to be an American living in Hesse amidst such a momentous election season? Six different American expats in Germany sit down on election night to talk about the divisive presidential, congressional, and gubernatorial 2020 elections and their consequences. Many Americans live in Giessen and its surrounding area, be it for heart- or work-related matters or plainly by coincidence. They observe the US-American politics from a particular perspective since they are deeply connected to the US by their own history on the one hand and gain information and insights through private contacts which are hardly reflected by the media here. On the other hand they closely observe the discussions and perceptions of German politics and society as well. In this debate Prof. Dr. Greta Olson, Derek Bembry, Jeff Coons, M.A., Greg Sax, PhD, and Kelley Donham share their personal inside and outside views on the topic with the audience. The online debate is moderated by Fabian Schöppner, M.A..
