In this practical session, participants will put into action the concepts and strategies introduced in the first part by presenting an overview of a tutoring course they have designed. Attendants will provide key details, including the course title, primary objectives, the number of teaching sessions, and how these sessions interconnect as well as other important information to explain the creation of a cohesive learning experience.

Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to discuss and explore various learning strategies to implement in each session so that the course fosters self-learning, autonomy, and self-direction—key goals of any effective tutoring program. This second part of designing a tutoring course encourages collaboration and feedback that permit participants to refine their course plans while keeping the focus on promoting long-term and independent learning among students.

Learning Goals

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Present a clear and cohesive overview of a tutoring course that supports students’ learning.
  • Analyze and discuss effective learning strategies that foster self-learning, autonomy, and self-direction within the context of a tutoring course.
  • Collaborate with peers to receive and provide constructive feedback to improve a tutoring course.
