In this master class, I will explore the use of personal narrative
as a means of exploring the complex relationships between language
culture and identify. I will present ways in which narrative data
can be analysed, and will look at ways in which understandings can
emerge through the interaction between data, in the form of narrative
accounts, journal entries and diaries, the interpretation and analysis
of these accounts, and tie ins to the literature. One point I wish
to make is that with this type of qualitative research, traditional
distinctions between data, interpretation / analysis, and secondary
research become problematic.
