Curriculum Vitae

Research Output

Since 16.12.2021, I have held the position of JLU's 1st Vice-President (with a Teaching & Learning brief).

Research Interests

My main research interests lie in the field of image studies and Greek and Roman antiquity. In this context, I am especially interested in questions of cultural history and the history of ideas, the implications of digital technologies for the humanities concerning both the development of knowledge and its transfer in museum contexts.

Among my publications are the monographs Bilder machen Räume. Mythenbilder in pompeianischen Häusern (De Gruyter, 2008) and Ancient Mythological Images and their Interpretation (Cambridge University Press, 2016).

My work in research and teaching comprises activities both in the field of archaeology itself and in the context of interdisciplinary cooperation with other disciplines in the humanities, social sciences, and technical sciences, but also with non-academic partners, especially museums collections.
