Frankfurt Airport to Giessen

How to get to Giessen from Frankfurt Airport

By train (up to 1.5h, costs 19.60€):

  1. Go to Terminal 1 at the airport (Train Sky Line between Terminals 1 and 2 at the airport is free of charge).
  2. Follow the signs to Regional Train Station (NOT Long Distance Trains!).
  3. Go to Level 01.
  4. Go to Platform 1.
  5. Buy a ticket to Gießen at a ticket machine.
  6. Take the line S9, RE2 or RE3 to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof/Frankfurt Main Station.
  7. Take RE30, RE98 or RB41 via Gießen (usually depart from platforms 14, 15 or 16). 

If you take the S9 line from the airport to Frankfurt Main Station, you will arrive at Platform 103, which is located underground. To get to your connecting train, you need to go two levels up. Take the escalator to the next level and ten take the escalator to the right from there. Turn right. Platforms 14, 15 and 16 will be right in front of you. 

 

By cab (50 minutes to 1.5h; costs up to 300€):

Cabs are readily available at Frankfurt Airport and can be found at designated ranks in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. In Terminal 1, the cab rank is located just outside the departures area. For Terminal 2, you will find the cab rank outside the arrivals area. Additionally, cab service booths are available inside each terminal.
