Bio

Nancy Mezzio teaches TEFL at the English department of JLU. She is currently conducting research on EFL teaching methodologies that, starting from the digital manipulation of authentic cultural-literary products, intend to guarantee more effectiveness in the language learning outcomes both in formal and informal learning environments. The study also investigates, as well as simultaneously aims at further developing, the digital competence of pre-service and in-service EFL teachers.

Prior to her academic position at JLU, she was lecturer, research assistant and second examiner in final examinations (Staatsexamen) at the English department/TEFL of the University of Rostock. She additionally taught in Rostock English, German, and Italian as a foreign language in adult education. 

Research interests

Her academic interests focus on:

  • Psycholinguistics and Second Language Acquisition
  • Teaching English with multimodal literary texts
  • Digitalisation in the foreign language teacher training
  • Digitalisation in foreign language learning and teaching
