Revue

Revue shows are costume shows performed by giant ensembles. Similar to Hollywood blockbusters, Revue shows create spaces of relaxation and invite spectators to lean back and consume. Three performers from the Theater Thikwa take on the challenge of bursting apart all the superlative elements of a “big show”. Equipped with bizarre objects the performers’ bodies will become surfaces of (in)visible prostheses, mutating into rogue cyber heroes and emerge as the icons of the show. It will be loud, bloody, and glamorous.

singing whales and bodyless sirens

blend is a trio of artists researching the science of communication specifically beyond speech. Therefore they collect material all over the world to broaden the meaning of communication.

blend visits the Mortsel area to focus on whale songs. They will sound out the situation of the whales in the moat of the Mortsel fortress and will record their songs to reflect upon the topics of language and communication.
Their representation will be a multilingual and interdisciplinary translation of whale songs which they will present through performance, sound and video.

SUPERQUADRA

The Performance SUPERQUADRA67 tells the story of the end of architecture.
Oscar N., inhabiting the futuristic building Super-Quadra 67 starts augmenting his surroundings
with personal improvements. Eventually the building starts mutating, while other tenants join in on
the reconstruction, putting their own ideas into the numerous endeavours.
Sets and characters of the live created animated film SUPERQUADRA67 become the research
grounds of a programmer and an animator. Together with puppetry and live-sound, the
performance follows an anarchist utopia in a world of planned cities.

TRANSIT MONUMENTAL – Droga Niepodległosci

TRANSIT MONUMENTAL – Droga Niepodległości stages an objet trouvé 10 meters in length and 500 kilos in weight as a monument in order to get in touch with presentations and utopias of a European nation. Inspired by the ancient tradition of states presents and with the self-imposed mission of offering this monument to different representative persons and groups in Poland, K.A.U. and Polish director Małgorzata Wdowik travel with it through different regions from Munich to Warsaw.

Free and independent, from pubs to sports fields along the way, staged festivities and ceremonies were celebrated and filmed. Arrived in Warsaw, TRANSIT MONUMENTAL staged a congress about the polish independence day against the backdrop of the monument. People who make an appearance on the independence day were gathered on a theatre stage. They were asked to present their performances of national consciousness and their utopia about the controversial Marsz Niepodległości. Because of the political situation after the elections 2015 in Poland, the situation at the congress as well became more and more controversial.

Seven road-movie-episodes and the live-recording of the final congress in Warsaw tell the story of TRANSIT MONUMENTAL.

Wenn sich im Hier und Jetzt das Konstrukt umkehrt. Vor unserem Auge.

Sharing space. Sharing time. Sharing bodies.
What is really there and what is just out of view?
The growth of what is infinite.
The disappearance of the construct.
The floor dropping out from under your feet
- might be a translation of what you hear and feel.

Are you worried if the invisible starts to move?
Would you go into the unknown if we wouldn’t take you?
Would you come with us if the unknown wouldn’t invite you?

what if where I am is what I need

When you can stay, what happens if you stay for far too long? right here*?, we thought. And rehearsed for 15,000 years, no problem. It’s difficult to remember when we stopped feeling our discrete needs and became part of something far more incomplete and symbiotic. And we are not complaining. We’ve been cared for. And we got better at caring for what’s actually here, with us. “what if where I am is what I need” is a shameless exercise in co-dependency and an attempt to make a habitat of the dysfunctional. The only thing we stubbornly keep on forgetting is that right now*, right here* we are in a theatre and the next show is about to start.

Working title (the loneliest whale in the world for 8 hours in HD)

More important than anything else was to find a way to live. It was under this thought that we started moving. When we returned to the movements months later we saw withdrawal where we had once seen proposition. The body that had moved before now seemed to belong so intensely to this former state of being that when we immersed ourselves in the exact same positions, it felt like skin moving without intention. Henrike wrote: It might turn out that this attempt is pretty much connected to the desire to disappear (from politics, practical life, the body) but it could also allow a perception of the present, that, due to its softness, is able to float through layers that would otherwise be blocking.
Else Tunemyr uses movement to liberate bodies from their intentionality. To do this, she (ab)uses practices that follow the functions of the body, its organs or its heartbeat, and transforms them into a simple choreographic method. A gap appears between the dancer and her movement. Embodiment and alienation of the same movement are suddenly indistinguishable.

WOW

Things break away from their inscribed biographies. Music separates itself from the musical world map attributed to it. Bodies and thoughts come into movement in a kaleidoscopic space. In their dance, Demir and Kılınçel operate with items that have a specific meaning for different communities in Germany.
“و WOW” is an exciting exclamation, inviting us to choreographies of transformation.
