Mila Pavićević
Mila Pavićević is a theorist, dramaturg, and writer. She is a research assistant at the Institute for Applied Theater Studies, working in the MA Choreography and Performance program with Prof. Dr. Bojana Kunst. She holds a BA in Ancient Greek Language and Literature and Comparative Literature and a MA in Dramaturgy from the Academy of Drama Arts, both from the University of Zagreb.
From 2019 to 2023, she worked as a research assistant in Critical Dance Studies at the Free University Berlin on the Fritz-Thyssen Foundation-funded project Dramaturgy and Choreography—New Formats in Contemporary Dance (with Jun.-Prof. Dr. Kirsten Maar). She is currently a PhD candidate in the same department, where her research examines dramaturgical practices from the former Yugoslavia during the historical period of transition (1990 – 2015) and their contributions to Western contemporary dance.
Since 2012, she has been active as a dramaturg in Berlin’s independent dance scene, collaborating with various artists and curating events and festivals in Berlin and Croatia. Her essays, poetry, and fiction have been published in multiple languages, and she won the European Union Prize for Literature in 2009 for her book Ice Girl and Other Fairytales.
Her research interests include histories of non-aligned movement, feminist dramaturgy, transdisciplinarity, and the temporality of institutions.
