Professorship of Applied Theatre Studies – Focus on the Practice of Performative Arts
Xavier Le Roy studied molecular biology at the University of Montpellier and has been working as a dancer and choreographer since 1991. From 1997 to 2003, he was an artist-in-residence at Podewil in Berlin. He choreographed the solo performances Self Unfinished (1998) and Product of Circumstances (1999), was invited to the Tanz im August festival to work with Yvonne Rainer on Meetings (2000), performed a piece by Jérôme Bel & Xavier Le Roy (2000), and choreographed Giszelle (2001) in collaboration with Eszter Salamon, as well as Project (2003) for 15 performers.

Professorship of Applied Theatre Studies
Prof. Dr. Gerald Siegmund studied theatre studies, English, and Romance languages at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main. In 1994, he received his doctorate with a dissertation on Theatre as Memory. Between 1998 and 2005, he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Applied Theatre Studies at Justus Liebig University in Giessen, where he also completed his habilitation. His habilitation thesis was published under the title Absence: A Performative Aesthetic of Dance by transcript.

Professorship of Dance Studies with a Focus on Choreography and Performance
Prof. Dr. Bojana Kunst holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Ljubljana and is a full professor at the Institute for Applied Theatre Studies (ATW – Institut für Angewandte Theaterwissenschaft) at Justus Liebig University Giessen. She previously worked as a researcher at the University of Ljubljana until 2009, served as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Antwerp (2003–2004), and was a DAAD guest professor at the University of Hamburg (2009–2011).
