Finnigan LTQ FT
The Finnigan Ion Cyclotron Resonance LTQ FT is a Fourier Transform mass spectrometer with high analytical power. It is the right tool for analytical challenges in metabolic studies, proteome analysis and pharmaceutical discovery.
The LTQ FT is a hybrid mass spectrometer that combines Ion Trap and Fourier Transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance technologies into a single instrument. So it offers not only high resolution and high mass accuracy but also allows MSn experiments.
The sample is introduced by ESI into the mass spectrometer and ions are stored by a linear ion trap. Ions can be analyzed quickly by a quadrupole MS. Additionally the FTICR mass analyzer equipped with a 7T magnet can be used for mass determination.
The LTQ FT offers fragmentation by Collision-induced Dissociation (CID) and by Electron Capture Dissociation (ECD).
The LTQ FT offers the following features:
- Unsurpassed LC/MS and LC/MSn performance
- robust accurate mass determination
- Mass accuracy of better than 2 ppm with external calibration
- Very high mass resolution for mixture analysis
- Maximum resolution of greater than 500,000 (FWHM)
- Simultaneous high resolution, mass accuracy and sensitivity over one mass
- decade (e.g. m/z 200 - m/z 2,000)
- Fast data acquisition rate (1 second repetition rate) with very high resolution (100,000 at m/z 400)
- Sub fmol on-column sensitivity (LC-MS)
