Challenges in Obtaining § 11 Authorization – A Balancing Act Between Animal Welfare and the Goals of Animal-Assisted Interactions
Date: Thursday, November 6, 2024
Time: 09:00 AM - 04:00 PM
Fee: €50.00 (internal JLU €40.00)
Target Audience: Veterinary officers and interested parties
Location: Online via Zoom
The increase in animal-assisted services in Germany is closely tied to ensuring the welfare of the animals involved. Against the backdrop of inconsistent legal frameworks, veterinary officers often face challenges when evaluating and approving applications for § 11 (Animal Welfare Act) authorizations. While compliance with legal animal welfare standards is a core competence of veterinary officers, there is often a lack of skills in contextually assessing didactic, educational, supportive, or therapeutic goals within the scope of expertise acquisition.
This workshop focuses on the specific characteristics of animal-assisted services at the intersection of professionals, animals, and target groups from various perspectives. Special attention will be given to providing (methodological) background knowledge on the didactics and psychology of interactions between professionals and target groups.
The workshop will conclude with an interactive discussion. Participants are encouraged to submit problem cases in advance, which will be actively incorporated into the discussion.
The workshop will be credited with 5 ATF (Animal Welfare Training) hours.
Please note that the number of participants is limited.
Registration will open soon.
