Culture of Care
What is a Culture of Care?
Culture of care is generally used in the laboratory animal community to indicate a commitment to improving animal welfare, scientific quality, care of the staff, and transparency for the stakeholders. This approach describes a a transformation of existing routines and procedures toward dialogical processes of negotiation and reconceptualization of all groups involved. All groups involved (management, science, regulation, and care) are understood as multipliers in the 3R implementation and the implementation of a Culture of Care in the sense of appreciation, care, and the wellbeing of all actors.

Overall, Culture of Care can be understood as an approach for a high reflection about culture in laboratory animal sciences with a focus on individual perception.
The workshop follows the idea of Culture of Care as a tool for animal-free-research, in with communication, own reflection about values, beliefs and attitudes by considering own perception while working in this field. The workshop consists of talks beyond actual debates. It offers individual discussions about the topic with a deeper understanding of different perspectives to the topic.
