Sepsis Symposium
Sepsis Symposium 29.04.2025
Sepsis presents a significant clinical challenge for both humans and animals. Although visible progress has been made in diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, optimizing sepsis treatment remains an urgent issue in medical research. This mini-symposium focuses on the complex challenges in the clinic and highlights the existing deficiencies in the treatment of sepsis, both in humans and animal models. A central topic is the use of animal testing in sepsis research, which is increasingly being critically questioned due to ethical and physiological concerns.
In accordance with the 3Rs principle by Russell and Burch, research aims to reduce animal testing, refine its execution, and potentially replace it to ensure animal welfare. Throughout the symposium, new, promising research approaches will be presented that could potentially make animal testing obsolete in the long term. We invite you to participate in this interdisciplinary discussion and gain a deeper insight into the latest medical developments and ethical issues in sepsis research.
