We congratulate all of you on the successful completion of your dissertation!Regardless of what your plans are for the future, we would very much like to stay in contact with you. Furthermore, we would like to invite you to discuss your career path and offer insight into your occupational field within a workshop at the GGK/GCSC. We would be overjoyed to hear back from you!
After graduation, former members of the GCSC follow different career paths: A considerable amount of graduates stays in the field of research and teaching (53 %), while 15 % are working in academic management. Meanwhile more than 200 members have graduated and successfully launched a career.

Get to Know Our Alumni
Dr. Katja Kirsten: Since 2017 Dr. Katja Kirsten has been working as an education consultant at VDV-Akademie, an association based in Cologne that represents the interests of public transport companies in Germany. She coordinated various projects to develop and establish e-learning in the mobility industry. Today she is part of a research project funded by the German BMBF within a programme called “InnoVET”. The project titled “UpTrain” aims at preparing staff in public transport companies for transformation processes caused by digitalisation and automatization by offering and evaluating innovative concepts of learning and development. |
lic.phil Andrea Züger: The day after submitting her dissertation - in January 2021- Andrea Züger started a new stage on her journey in academic life; working at the National Centre for Tumour Diseases (NCT) at Heidelberg University Hospital. Previously, she had been working on an ethnography about a psychological intervention for seriously ill people since 2016 as part of a GCSC fellowship. She was then allowed to defend this dissertation in June 2021. Andrea Züger studied German and Folklore at the University of Zurich and considers herself an empirical cultural researcher. |
