GCSC Skill-Swap Workshop Series
The Skill-Swap Workshop Series is a student initiative hosted by the GCSC. Inspired by the constant interdisciplinary exchange between doctoral candidates at the centre, the workshop series offers an official outlet for a peer-led knowledge transfer.

Workshops are designed by candidates (FB03, FB04, FB05) and postdocs at the GCSC/GKK to swap research skills and expand teaching experience.

The model of the Workshop ensures attendees are offered a say in curating the series based on their interests and needs through the selection process. Meanwhile, the time, effort, and initiative of workshop coaches is acknowledged by certificates and compensations based on the JLU honoraria standard hourly rate scheme.

Think of it as a friendly exchange zone where a historian might learn digital text analysis, a literature scholar might try out ethnographic methods, or a political scientist might explore narrative analysis, all in an accessible, supportive environment.

Format:
One workshop per month; 90-minute sessions starting  summer semester 2026
All workshops must offer a hybrid option or be online, attendance is open for GCSC/GGK members as well as JLU students (until spots are filled)

Application: 
The CFP for the WiSe 2026/27 Skill-Swap Workshop Series will be announced and circulated via email. 

Process:
The process starts with publishing a call for workshop proposal from candidates. Next attendees are presented with a survey to vote on their preferred workshops, days, and time slots. The top four proposals are then selected, candidates are contacted by the organizer of the workshop series (Reqqa Salem). who then coordinates with the Curriculum team for the registration and room bookings and the HIWI team for posters and technical assistance.
